In particular The founders of the company, the family Bausch, were involved in many of the exciting events in PC communication of the 1980s like Bulletin Board Systems (BBS). In those early days of PC Communication, Bulletin Board Systems were, unlike the large host systems of that moment, initiated and supported by Special Interest Groups. The mass public determined the BBS success story in the 80s and this bottom up method was most likely a very important factor leading to the success of the super communication highway of the Internet today. One could even say that the tremendous success of the Internet is probably due to the start of PC Communication in the late 80s. Alex Bausch set up his first BBS in California and took it to Europe. This became the foundation for modems, software and connectivity development by the Bausch Datacom company that was founded in Holland in 1987.
